What happened
A 7-year-old girl, Saylor Graham, was shot in the face at Silver Rail Elementary School in Oregon. She was inside a special needs classroom when the 16-year-old gunman, Griffin John II, opened fire.
Graham, who uses a wheelchair due to a rare gene mutation, was initially in critical condition but is now stable. She is recovering at a Portland hospital, and her family has asked for privacy.
The gunman killed three students, ages 5, 8, and 11, and one teacher, Meghan Lambert, 25. Another teacher, Becky Drury, 54, was also injured. The motive behind the shooting is currently unknown.
A hero dad, Kaylub Giamanco, intervened by running into the school and killing the gunman. Giamanco holds a concealed carry permit and was driving home on his lunch break when he spotted the gunman.
