Bible Study Teacher Finds Strength in Weakness Amidst Son's Cancer Battle

Bible study teacher Christine Hoover faced a severe personal test when her son was diagnosed with cancer, but found strength in her faith and wrote a study on Second Corinthians.

Bible study teacher and author Christine Hoover faced a severe personal test when her son was diagnosed with cancer. Despite the challenges, she found strength in her faith and wrote a study on Second Corinthians.

What happened

Hoover's son, Will, a college athlete, was diagnosed with cancer that had spread all over his body. He underwent four rounds of chemotherapy and surgery. During this time, Hoover continued to write her Bible study, More than Enough, God's Strength in our Weakness, which became a source of strength for her.

The scripture in 2 Corinthians 12:9 and 10, where Paul writes that God's power is made perfect in weakness, became Hoover's anthem. She found comfort in the verse, which reminded her that she didn't have to be strong, but rather dependent on God for strength.

Today, Will is back at college and running on the track team. His doctors say the chemotherapy worked miraculously, and he is serving the Lord through FCA in South Africa. Hoover's experience has taught her the importance of embracing weakness and relying on God for strength, a lesson she shares in her Bible study.

Hoover's story is a testament to the power of faith and the importance of Bible studies in encouraging believers in their walk with the Lord. Her Bible study, More than Enough, God's Strength in our Weakness, is an eight-week study in 2nd Corinthians that includes teaching videos and is available wherever books are sold.
