What happened
Over 1,000 Christian leaders from 117 countries have gathered in Israel to honor the victims of the October 7 attack and show solidarity with the survivors. The leaders, including approximately 200 young adults, will meet with released hostages, bereaved families, wounded soldiers, and Holocaust survivors.
The Friends of Zion Ambassador Summit, organized in cooperation with Israel's Foreign Ministry, aims to provide the leaders with a deeper understanding of Israel and its people. The participants will visit various sites, including the Southern Wall of the Temple Mount, the Nova music festival massacre site, and ancient Shiloh.
The commemoration marks three years since the Hamas terrorist attack that killed approximately 1,200 people and took 251 hostages into Gaza. Released hostages will appear onstage during the anniversary gathering, which will be broadcast live on dozens of television networks.
The delegation's visit is seen as a powerful message of support for Israel, with Israel's special envoy to the Christian world, George Deek, stating that the arrival of the Christian leaders carries a message that Israel does not stand alone.
