Co-pilot Attempts to Crash Fly Dubai Flight, Passengers Intervene
Ynet News

A co-pilot from Oman attempted to crash a Fly Dubai flight but was stopped by passengers. The co-pilot was transferred to the UAE for investigation.

What happened

A co-pilot from Oman attempted to crash a Fly Dubai flight, but was stopped by passengers, including several Israelis. The co-pilot was transferred from Saudi Arabia to the United Arab Emirates for further investigation.

Israeli officials believe the co-pilot acted alone and that the motive was likely nationalist and religious, rather than a suicide attempt. An Israeli official stated that it appears the co-pilot exploited a loophole in the rules to get hired as a pilot despite being from a country without diplomatic relations with Israel.

The investigation is ongoing, and Israel is seeking to be involved as an observer. The UAE has been cooperative, and Israel hopes to send a team to Abu Dhabi to assist in the investigation.

The incident has been praised by Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Netanyahu, who thanked the passengers for their bravery. The President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, announced his intention to award the Israeli passengers who stopped the co-pilot with the Presidential Medal of Courage for Civilian Bravery.
