What happened
An Omani national, who was the co-pilot of Flydubai Flight FZ1073, allegedly stabbed the captain mid-flight and attempted to crash the plane, which was carrying 174 passengers, including 27 children.
Israeli officials have described the incident as an attempted jihadist terror attack, and an investigation has been launched to determine if terrorism was involved.
The co-pilot's motives are not yet clear, but some reports suggest he refused to shake hands with women, which has been seen as a sign of radicalization.
The incident has raised questions about how the co-pilot, who is from a country with no formal ties to Israel, was able to crew an Israel-bound flight, and what security clearances he held.
The attack was thwarted by passengers, including a dentist who treated the wounded captain, and the plane was able to land safely.
