Co-Pilot's Attempted Terrorist Attack on Israel-Bound Flight Thwarted
The Epoch Times

A co-pilot attempted a terrorist attack on an Israel-bound flight using a crash axe, but passengers and crew thwarted the attack before the plane landed safely in Saudi Arabia.

What happened

A co-pilot on an Israel-bound FlyDubai flight attempted a terrorist attack by using a crash axe to attack the captain and try to seize control of the aircraft.

The incident occurred on September 30, and the plane made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after passengers and crew intervened to stop the co-pilot.

According to the United Arab Emirates prosecutor general, the co-pilot began executing his plan inside the flight deck, and the aircraft plunged nearly 14,000 feet in less than 30 seconds during the struggle.

The captain, who was badly injured, managed to unlock the cockpit door, allowing others to intervene and subdue the co-pilot.

Two reserve pilots on board the flight subsequently landed the plane safely in Tabuk, northwestern Saudi Arabia.

The motives behind the attack are still under investigation, with some officials suggesting that the co-pilot may have undergone Islamist radical indoctrination.

The incident has been condemned by officials, including the UAE's diplomatic adviser, who called for no tolerance for extremism.
