What happened

Passengers on the flight described a harrowing scene, with people screaming and panicking as the plane dived towards the ground. The attacker was subdued by a group of passengers, including a plumber named Yaniv Hayun, who helped to save the plane and its 174 passengers.

The hero of the incident was hailed as Indian pilot Smit Machchhar, who managed to unlock the cockpit door despite being heavily bleeding, allowing crew members and passengers to subdue the attacker and regain control of the plane.

The alleged attacker, a pilot from Oman, was detained in Saudi Arabia and is being investigated. The incident is being treated as a potential act of terrorism, with officials from the US, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE investigating the matter.

Despite the seriousness of the incident, there are no indications that Iran was involved, and US officials have stated that there are no credible threats to American flights.
