Hundreds of Cockroach Janta Party protesters were detained in Delhi during an anti-government demonstration calling for electoral reforms, despite police denial of permission and heavy security deployment.

What happened

Hundreds of protesters from the Cockroach Janta Party were detained in Delhi during an anti-government demonstration. The protest, led by Gen-Z, called for electoral reforms and was met with a heavy security presence, including thousands of personnel and barricaded roads.

The movement, which began in May, was sparked by a comment from India's Chief Justice comparing some unemployed young people to cockroaches. Despite being denied permission, the party's founder, Abhijeet Dipke, and other leaders were detained after arriving in the capital.

A video shared on social media by the Cockroach Janta Party showed the detention of its leaders. Protesters were also seen slamming on bus windows after being detained. The party had insisted that the demonstration would go ahead, despite the lack of permission from Delhi police.
