Democrats Spend $7 Million on Anti-Data Center Ads in Ohio Senate Race
Washington Examiner

Democrats are spending $7 million on TV ads in Ohio, targeting Sen. Jon Husted's ties to data centers in an effort to flip the Senate seat, with ads claiming Husted received $600,000 from data center interests and voted to give them billions in return.

What happened

Democrats have launched a $7 million television ad campaign in Ohio, targeting Sen. Jon Husted and his connections to data centers. The ads, paid for by the Democratic political action committee Defend the Vote, aim to link Husted to the controversial issue of data centers and hurt his chances of retaining his Senate seat.

The ads claim that Husted has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from data center developers and has voted to give them billions in return. They also suggest that Husted's actions have led to higher electric bills for Ohio residents. The ads will run across Ohio from October 1 to October 12.

Husted has attempted to distance himself from the issue by introducing the Ratepayer Protection Act, which aimed to protect households from rising energy costs associated with data centers. However, the bill failed to overcome a filibuster in the Senate, despite passing overwhelmingly in the House.
