What happened
A FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv was forced to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after an attempted hijacking. According to passenger accounts, one pilot stabbed the other and tried to crash the plane. The flight was stabilized by an off-duty flight crew member who happened to be on board, with the help of intervening passengers.
Passengers described the experience as terrifying, with the plane turning sideways and going up and down in different directions. Some passengers reported seeing people covered in blood and hearing shouting from the front of the plane.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attempted hijacking was a terrorist attack, and that the pilot who carried out the stabbing was trying to sabotage the aircraft's systems. The pilot was arrested and taken for questioning by Saudi authorities.
The flight eventually landed safely in Tel Aviv, with cheers and chants heard as the passengers disembarked. The incident is being investigated by Israeli authorities, who are working to determine whether it was intended to be a Sept. 11-style terror attack.
