Estonia Receives Short-Range HIMARS Missiles
ERR Estonia

Estonia has received shorter-range HIMARS missiles with a 70km range, according to Defense Minister Martin Herem. The arrival is part of a larger contract for HIMARS systems and ammunition.

Estonia has taken delivery of shorter-range missiles for its HIMARS rocket artillery system, with a range of 70 kilometers.

What happened

Defense Minister Martin Herem confirmed the arrival of the missiles, which are part of a contract that includes both shorter-range GMLRS rockets and longer-range ATACMS missiles.

The Estonian Defense Forces have six HIMARS systems, with three more launchers expected to arrive in 2027. The HIMARS systems can carry various types of ammunition, including guided missiles with ranges of up to 300 kilometers.

The delivery of the shorter-range missiles comes after a suspension of ammunition deliveries from the US due to the war in Iraq. However, the arrival of these missiles marks a significant step forward in Estonia's efforts to enhance its defense capabilities.
