What happened
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the individual who attempted to take control of a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv had undergone radical Islamist indoctrination. The plane, which had over 170 people on board, experienced a significant drop in altitude of more than 17,000 feet before passengers and crew overpowered the attacker and regained control, landing safely in Saudi Arabia.
The attacker, an Omani national, stabbed the co-pilot and attempted to take over the plane. Netanyahu noted that the attacker's actions and subsequent behavior, including calling out to be killed after being subdued, suggested a suicidal intent. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the United Arab Emirates and Israel cooperating to determine the motives behind the attack.
The Flydubai plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia, where the pilot and co-pilot received medical attention before being returned to the UAE. The incident has led to the suspension of Flydubai flights between Dubai and Tel Aviv, with Israeli airlines planning to operate rescue flights to bring back stranded passengers.
