What happened
A former Obama administration DHS adviser has expressed concerns about the potential for radicalization in sanctuary states. Charles Marino, who served as a senior law enforcement adviser, stated that communities in these states are allowed to isolate themselves without assimilating into US culture.
Marino cited the example of London, where similar isolation occurred, and warned that the US is seeing a rise in incidents due to the presence of dangerous, unvetted individuals with extremist ideologies. He claimed that these individuals are influencing American-born people who share cultural ties with countries like Somalia, leading to radicalization.
Marino's comments came during a discussion about a reported thwarted terror plot at the Mall of America in Minnesota. He emphasized that the lack of assimilation in sanctuary states contributes to the perfect storm of radicalization, as people from special interest locations like Somalia isolate themselves and influence others.
