France Experiences Widespread Rioting and Arrests
The Blaze

Violent riots break out in France, with thousands arrested and schools burned. President Trump blames Islam and mass migration, while French officials point to school conditions.

What happened

Violent riots have broken out in France, with nearly 500 people arrested in one day and over 5,000 arrested in total. The riots have resulted in the ransacking or burning of at least 24 schools, and 87% of those arrested are minors. The French government claims the riots are about conditions in schools, but others have tied the unrest to mass immigration and increased immigration enforcement.

President Donald Trump has blamed the riots on Islam and 'out of control mass migration', stating that it is not about schools but about Islam wanting to take over the country. The French foreign minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, responded by saying that if France does not write its own story, others will write it for them, and accused rivals and partners of interpreting the rioting in a self-serving manner.

The riots have resulted in injuries to both protesters and law enforcement officers, including a 15-year-old who had his hand blown off by a police stun grenade. The US Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, has also blamed immigration for the rioting, stating that open borders and unchecked immigration can lead to frustration and violence.
