France's Social Unrest Reflects Deeper Spiritual Crisis

France's Social Unrest Reflects Deeper Spiritual Crisis
The Blaze

France's riots and looting may be symptoms of a larger issue, according to Steve Deace, who argues that the West's abandonment of Christianity has led to social contagions assembling in the country.

What happened

France is experiencing widespread riots, looting, and destruction, which Steve Deace believes is the result of the West's abandonment of Christianity. Deace argues that the social contagions unleashed by the West are now manifesting in France.

Deace notes that the problem is not solely due to Islam, but rather the rejection of Christian values. He explains that the West was founded on Christian principles, with the Puritans playing a significant role in shaping the country's values.

However, the counterculture movement countered these Christian ethics, leading to a shift in values such as gender, sexual, and criminal ethics. Deace argues that this rejection of Christian values has led to the current state of France, where only 5% of self-identified Catholics attend mass monthly or more, and only 1.1% of the population is evangelical.

Deace believes that this spiritual crisis is not limited to France, but is a broader issue affecting all of Europe. He warns that if the West continues to reject Christian values, it will face similar consequences.
