Gypsy Rose Blanchard's fiancé, Ken Urker, was found dead at his Louisiana home after threatening suicide. Urker's family and boss became concerned when he failed to show up to work, prompting a wellness check.
What happened
According to a 911 dispatch call, Urker was in a "dark place" and had made threats to commit suicide. He also owned a gun. Urker's sister-in-law, Anita Blanchard, requested the wellness check after his boss noted his absence from work. Urker had been drinking the night before and had made comments about being depressed and upset.
When Urker's family and boss arrived at his home, they found him lying on his bed unconscious. They were able to gain access to the home through an unlocked window and found Urker unresponsive. Deputies later arrived and found Urker deceased, with paraphernalia and a handgun near his body.
An autopsy was conducted, but the cause of death has not been determined pending toxicology testing. Gypsy Rose Blanchard believes Urker may have overdosed, but it is unclear if it was intentional. Urker's death occurred on his 34th birthday.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has spoken out about Urker's death, stating that he endured public scrutiny and cyberbullying, which may have contributed to his death. Urker's sister, Autumn Snyder, has criticized Gypsy Rose Blanchard's response to his death, accusing her of trying to paint a fake narrative about their relationship.
