A missile strike by the Iran-backed Houthi group on a security training camp in Yemen's Shabwa province has resulted in significant casualties.
What happened
The attack, which occurred on Monday, targeted security force recruits undergoing training at the Martyr Ahmed Al-Sulaimani Training Center. Local authorities reported that more than 70 people were killed and over 200 wounded in the strike.
The Houthi group has been fighting Yemen's internationally recognized government since 2014, and the conflict has intensified in recent times. The group has increased attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
Yemeni Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani condemned the strike, describing it as a war crime. He also expressed concern over the Houthi's ballistic missile capabilities, which pose a threat to the region.
