Houthi Rebels Launch Deadly Attack on Riyadh Airport
New York Post

At least 13 people killed and over 300 injured in Houthi rebel attack on Riyadh airport. The attack has led to the closure of the airport and cancellation of flights.

A recent attack by Houthi rebels on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport has resulted in the deaths of at least 13 people and injured over 300 others.

What happened

Surveillance footage released by Saudi Arabia's Media Ministry shows the moment of the attack, which occurred on Saturday. The footage depicts unsuspecting travelers waiting in lines inside the terminal when a sudden explosion occurred, causing smoke to fill the terminal building and a fire to rage.

Travelers rushed for cover as pieces of the roof crashed towards the floor. Airport workers cowered under their desks in terror. The attack has been claimed by the Houthi rebels, who stated that it was a response to brutal Saudi aggression in Yemen.

The victims of the attack included citizens from several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, India, and the United States. The airport has been closed since the attack, and over 540 flights scheduled to arrive and depart on Monday have been canceled.

The Houthi rebels have also threatened further strikes, stating that Saudi airports are vulnerable to attack. The Saudi-led coalition has intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile near the airport, and the country's energy minister has warned that the response to Houthi aggression must be equally serious.
