A missile attack on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport has resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people, including one American, and injured over 300 others.
What happened
Iranian-backed Houthi rebels launched the missile attack on the airport, which has been targeted at least two other times in the last week. The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the strikes, reporting several injuries and temporarily suspending flights.
The attack damaged two passenger terminals, and a previous attack on Thursday destroyed a passenger jet and killed three people. The United States is considering assisting a Saudi military response to the attack, with President Donald Trump signaling an openness to providing support.
The Houthi rebels have been involved in a long-running conflict with the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, and have launched several attacks on Saudi targets in recent years. The attack on the airport is the latest escalation in the conflict, and has raised concerns about the safety of civilians and the stability of the region.
