Investigator Argues Hamas Committing Genocide in October 7 Attack
The Daily Wire

Gerald Posner argues that Hamas's October 7 attack in southern Israel constitutes genocide, citing the group's special intent to destroy a group and its conduct during the attack.

What happened

A veteran investigator, Gerald Posner, has raised questions about the October 7 attack by Hamas terrorists in southern Israel, which resulted in the deaths of roughly 1,200 people. Posner argues that the international human rights community has failed to apply the same standards to Hamas as it does to Israel, and that there is a solid case for genocide against Hamas in the October 7 attack.

Posner points to the fact that the UN Commission of Inquiry, Amnesty International, and other organizations have applied the 1948 Genocide Convention against Israel, but not against Hamas. He contends that Hamas's actions, including its 1988 charter and the conduct of its terrorists on October 7, demonstrate a special intent to destroy a group, which is the heart of the definition of genocide.

Posner also cites the example of Srebrenica, where international courts ruled that the massacre of 8,000 Bosnian men and boys was a genocide, and argues that the killings in the Gaza border kibbutzim could be considered a genocide under the same standards. He challenges those who defend Hamas's actions to explain why the killing of civilians, including infants and the elderly, served any military purpose.
