What happened
An Iranian-American student at the University of Michigan confronted Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed over Iran's brutal regime. The student, Iman Dashti, demanded to know if El-Sayed stood unequivocally against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Islamic Republic of Iran. El-Sayed dodged the question, instead criticizing American foreign policy.
Dashti's confrontation triggered a wave of online backlash, with trolls attempting to intimidate and harass him and his family. Despite the threats, Dashti refused to back down, asserting his Christian conservative values and criticizing El-Sayed's response.
Dashti also targeted far-left political streamer Hasan Piker, warning him to stop mentioning his name. Dashti's message to El-Sayed was clear: answer the question next time.
