Israeli police have arrested 10 suspects in connection with separate attacks on a US journalist and European diplomats in the occupied West Bank.
What happened
The arrests came after violent incidents over the weekend, including an attack on European diplomats and a freelance photojournalist, Heidi Levine, who was assaulted while covering a Palestinian olive harvest.
According to reports, the suspects are believed to be linked to violent disturbances and violations of closed military zone orders. Police said officers, soldiers, and the Shin Bet domestic security service carried out the operation, recovering two slingshots and arresting individuals, including one suspect wearing ritual tassels worn by some observant Jewish men.
The attacks have sparked international condemnation, with Washington calling on Israel to crack down on settler violence. France, Belgium, and Poland have also urged Israeli authorities to act after their diplomats were attacked.
Israeli leaders, including President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have condemned the violence, with Herzog apologizing for the attack on the US journalist and Netanyahu urging against reaching conclusions before investigations are completed.
