A flight to Israel dropped 17,000ft in under two minutes after a pilot allegedly stabbed the co-pilot, with passengers and extra pilots on board helping to land the plane safely in Saudi Arabia.

What happened

A flight bound for Israel experienced a sudden and extreme drop in altitude, falling 17,000ft in less than two minutes. The incident occurred when the pilot allegedly attacked the co-pilot. A passenger described the experience as similar to being on a rollercoaster.

The plane, Flight FZ1073, was diverted to Saudi Arabia after the incident. Several passengers reportedly took control of the flight, and two additional pilots who were on board came forward to help land the plane safely.
