CBN News

An Israel-bound flight from Dubai plummeted 13,000 feet after transmitting a hijacking emergency code, triggering a security alert and scrambled fighter jets, before landing safely in Saudi Arabia.

What happened

A major security alert was triggered across the region after a possible hijacking of an Israel-bound passenger jet. The Fly Dubai Flight 1073, traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, suddenly transmitted the international emergency code for possible unlawful interference or hijacking, prompting Israel to scramble fighter jets.

According to reports, the emergency began with a violent altercation between the two pilots, with one pilot allegedly pulling a knife on the other. The plane lost control, plunging more than 13,000 feet, and passengers were left screaming, thinking they were going to die.

Crew members, with the help of Israelis on board, reportedly subdued the pilot, and the plane eventually changed course and landed safely in Saudi Arabia. Authorities are now investigating the incident to determine exactly what happened and why.

The incident occurred as Israel is already on heightened alert, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warning that the country's enemies may attempt an attack before the October 27 election. Netanyahu has also been holding talks with Gulf leaders to contain Iran and its proxies.
