Two Latvian nationals, aged 36 and 32, were arrested for allegedly breaching a Royal Air Force base in Cambridgeshire, England, on suspicion of trespass and criminal damage, with further arrest for a National Security Act offence.

Two Latvian nationals have been arrested for allegedly entering a Royal Air Force base in England. The incident occurred at RAF Molesworth in Cambridgeshire.

What happened

Military police discovered an abandoned vehicle near the base and found a hole in the fence, leading to a search that resulted in the arrest of two men, aged 36 and 32, at around 02:00. They were initially arrested on suspicion of trespass and criminal damage, and later further arrested on suspicion of an offence under the National Security Act 2023.

The men, who are currently resident in the UK, remain in police custody. The investigation is being led by Counter Terrorism Policing, with officers searching two addresses in the Peterborough area and recovering the abandoned vehicle.

The incident is being treated as a potential security breach, but authorities have not found any evidence to suggest it is connected to a recent incident at RAF Fairford. The investigation is ongoing, with officers looking into the potential motivation behind the men's actions.
