Lithuania has discovered evidence that a drone which crashed in the country on Sunday originated from Poland.
What happened
A drone entered Lithuanian airspace early Sunday and crashed in the village of Juodžionys, damaging a civilian car. No injuries were reported. Presidential adviser Deividas Matulionis stated that Lithuania has credible evidence the drone crossed into its airspace from Poland.
Meanwhile, an attempted arson attack occurred at a premises used by US company SpaceX in Vilnius, with Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius linking the incident to Russia’s hybrid war against Europe. The attackers allegedly tried to set fire to nine satellite antennas and a control unit.
Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas called a Polish media report about the drone being launched from within Lithuania a “kind of misunderstanding”. He stated that Lithuania will transmit relevant information to Poland via a secure network and continue to address the issue.
