Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Rally party, has stated that she would stop providing aid to Ukraine within six months of being elected as the President of France. She believes that France can no longer afford to provide this aid.
Le Pen also criticized Europe's approach to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, describing it as an 'energy war'. She argued that the European Union's sanctions against Russia have not been effective and have instead led to an 'energy war' between the two powers.
Le Pen's comments come as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has resumed strikes on Russia's oil refineries, following a brief ceasefire. The move has been criticized by some, including Elon Musk, who has called for Zelensky to step down.
The European Union has pledged to provide significant financial support to Ukraine, with a planned loan of €45 billion in 2027. However, Le Pen has stated that she would cap France's contribution to the EU's budget at €5 billion, which could potentially derail the EU's plans to provide further financial support to Ukraine.
