Muslim leftist Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdulrahman El-Sayed and Republican former Rep. Mike Rogers engaged in a heated debate over their responses to the October 7 terror attack in Israel.
What happened
During the debate, Rogers called out El-Sayed for not releasing a statement on the anniversary of the attack, listing the atrocities committed, including terrorism, rape, and murder. El-Sayed interrupted, stating that he had condemned the attack but accused Rogers of using it as "political theater" for political gain.
El-Sayed asserted that he did not try to make "political theater" out of other people's pain, but Rogers slammed him, saying his entire campaign was "political theater." Rogers also referenced reports that El-Sayed, who holds a medical degree, has had no experience as a licensed medical doctor.
After the debate, El-Sayed refused to answer a reporter's question about why he declined to release a statement on October 7, further fueling the controversy surrounding his response to the terror attack.
