A missile attack by Houthi rebels on the presidential palace in Aden, Yemen, has resulted in the deaths of five people and injured 16 others, according to government officials.
What happened
Five ballistic missiles hit the al-Maashiq Palace, which serves as the seat of the internationally-recognized government in Yemen. The prime minister and other ministers were unharmed in the attack, according to Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani.
The Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Sarea, claimed that the target of the attack was the Saudi enemy's military operations headquarters in Aden. The attack is part of an ongoing conflict between the Houthi rebels, who are backed by Iran, and the Saudi-led coalition that supports the Yemeni government.
The casualties from the attack included guards and civilian employees, according to Yemen's health minister, Qasim Buhaibeh. The prime minister, Shaya Zindani, condemned the attack as cowardly and vowed that it would not weaken the government's resolve to continue operations against the Houthis.
