A missile strike hit Riyadh Airport, killing 14 and injuring over 300, with the Houthis in Yemen claiming responsibility and warning against using Saudi airports and airspace.

A missile strike has hit Riyadh Airport, resulting in significant casualties and damage. The attack, which occurred on Saturday, has been claimed by the Houthis in Yemen.

What happened

The strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh left 14 people dead and over 300 injured. CCTV footage from inside the airport shows people taking cover as one of the missiles hit the building. The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that they targeted the airport with a mix of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones.

In addition to the airport attack, the Houthis also claimed to have attacked oil facilities and Dammam airport in eastern Saudi Arabia. Their military spokesman, Brig Gen Yahya Saree, warned that all Saudi airports were potential targets, except for those in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. The group vowed to continue their "escalating operations deep inside Saudi Arabia", warning airlines and passengers against using Saudi Arabian airports and airspace.

The attack is part of a series of strikes that have taken place in Saudi Arabia in recent days. The Houthis' actions have resulted in significant damage and loss of life, and have raised concerns about the safety of airports and airspace in the region.
