A National Guard member was shot in the leg while attempting to intervene in a late-night brawl in Washington, DC.
What happened
According to the Metropolitan Police Department of DC, a group of National Guard members were monitoring a fight in the Eastern Market neighborhood when they heard gunshots. The individuals exited their vehicle to try to stop the fight, at which point an individual involved in the fight pulled out a firearm and began shooting.
The suspect, later identified as 41-year-old Jerrell Jackson, ran into an alley and pointed the gun at the National Guard members, who ordered him to drop the weapon.
