What happened
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a "war criminal" and "architect of the horrific genocide of the Palestinian people" in a recent CNN interview. Netanyahu responded by saying Mamdani supports "terror monsters" and that he will expose the truth about Mamdani at the UN. Mamdani had previously stated that he would not enforce an international arrest warrant against Netanyahu, but still criticized the Israeli leader.
Mamdani also discussed the importance of upholding the law and respecting international institutions, including the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has issued an arrest warrant against Netanyahu. Netanyahu is set to visit New York for a brief period, during which he will address the UN General Assembly.
