Nicki Minaj, a renowned rapper and supporter of President Donald Trump, has become the subject of speculation regarding a potential role in the Trump administration.
What happened
The White House has been searching for a new press secretary since Karoline Leavitt's departure in August, with Katie Zacharia's brief 5-day stint being the only attempt to fill the vacancy. Recently, Minaj joined Trump onstage at a rally in Michigan, where she praised the president and denounced certain social issues. Following the event, White House communications director Steven Cheung shared a video of his conversation with Minaj, captioning it as a potential discovery of the new press secretary.
Minaj's flight to Michigan on Air Force One and her meeting with Cheung have fueled speculation about her possible appointment to the role. Other potential contenders include CNN contributor Scott Jennings, White House communications aide Danielle Alvarez, and White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly. The White House has not responded to requests for comment, but a source familiar with the situation stated that a new pick will not be announced before the midterms.
