A nor'easter has caused significant erosion to Rockaway Beach, leaving it resembling the steep cliffs of Ireland. The storm destroyed large sections of the beach, creating dangerous drop-offs and cliffs.

A powerful nor'easter has caused significant erosion to the Rockaway Beach coastline in Queens, leaving it resembling the steep cliffs of Ireland. The storm destroyed large sections of the beach, creating dangerous drop-offs and cliffs, with some areas losing almost 30 feet of beach.

According to a Parks Department worker, the sand from Rockaway Beach was swept away and deposited at nearby Breezy Point. The worker noted that the wooden jetties, previously hidden under the sand, were uncovered as the waves dragged the sand off the beach.
