New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was heckled by pro-Palestinian protesters at a Union Square vigil marking the third anniversary of the October 7 Hamas terror attacks.

What happened

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was confronted by pro-Palestinian protesters at a Union Square vigil marking the third anniversary of the October 7 Hamas terror attacks. The protesters, who outnumbered the attendees, shouted anti-Israel slogans and heckled the mayor.

The vigil, organized by the Left-wing group Israelis for Peace NYC, was disrupted by the protesters, who waved portraits of Hamas mastermind Yahya Sinwar and chanted slogans such as Death to the IDF and We don’t want no two state, we want 48. Mamdani was followed by the protesters as he left the vigil, with some calling him an opportunist piece of sh*t.

Despite being heckled, Mamdani's own rhetoric has been criticized for being anti-Israel. On the same day as the vigil, he released a statement accusing Israel of devastating, ongoing genocide and apartheid. The Jewish Community Relations Council slammed Mamdani for failing to bring the city together on the October 7 anniversary, saying it was shameful to pit the dead against each other.
