What happened
A passenger, Yaniv Hayoun, helped prevent a disaster on Flydubai flight FZ1073 by rushing the cockpit and stopping a terrorist attack. Hayoun was seated in Row 11 when he heard a woman yelling about a stabbing, and the plane turned sharply and started shaking.
Hayoun rushed toward the cockpit, yelling at other passengers to buckle up, and was almost at the door when the plane nosedived. He managed to get up and open the cockpit door, finding a terrorist crouching between the pilots' seats, hitting the instrument panel.
Hayoun called for help and, with the assistance of other passengers, was able to pull the terrorist away from the controls and get him out of the cockpit. He then grabbed the yoke and pulled upward, bringing the nose of the aircraft up.
A man who claimed to be a pilot took over the controls, and Hayoun remained in the cockpit to ensure the plane was landed safely. The passengers eventually subdued the terrorist, tying him up with headphone cables, and the plane landed safely.
Hayoun said he did not worry about flying again and would certainly do so in the future, believing the odds of a similar incident happening again were low.
