Residents in Atlanta have been noticing robot security dogs with distinctive accents patrolling their neighborhoods. The robots, which are equipped with bright lights and audio capabilities, are part of a security system provided by Atlanta-based company Undaunted.
What happened
Undaunted has deployed dozens of robot security dogs to patrol residential and commercial properties in Atlanta, with over 120 robots currently in service. The robots are designed to provide visibility in hard-to-reach areas and deter crime, such as car break-ins and loitering. According to residents and property owners, the robots have been effective in reducing crime and providing a sense of security.
The robots are equipped with audio capabilities, allowing live operators to intervene and alert police and customers as needed. However, the robots are not equipped with weapons and do not physically intervene. The cost of the robot security system is around $3,333 per month for the base package, which includes two robotic guards, two charging stations, and monitoring for eight hours per day, seven days a week.
Residents have expressed positive sentiments about the robots, with one resident stating, I love it. Property owners have also praised the robots, noting that they provide visibility in areas that conventional surveillance cannot reach. The robots have been spotted regularly by residents, and their presence has been welcomed as a deterrent to crime.
