Russian attacks in Ukraine have killed four people, with strikes on residential homes in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia, and the Odesa, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions, according to Ukrainian officials.

What happened

Russia launched a series of attacks across Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of four people. The attacks occurred just days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to the United Nations for help in ending the war.

The Russian attacks involved the use of cruise and ballistic missiles, powerful glide bombs, and jet-powered drones. The attacks targeted residential areas in several cities, including Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia, as well as the Odesa, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

In Zaporizhzhia, two women were killed when their home was destroyed in a Russian strike. In the city of Sumy, two people were also killed in a separate Russian attack.

Ukrainian forces have also been targeting Russian oil refineries and businesses with long-range drones. A recent drone attack in the southern Krasnodar region killed three people and wounded two, and sparked fires at two industrial sites.

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has shown no signs of slowing, despite diplomatic efforts to end the war. Ukrainian President Zelensky has called on countries to impose sanctions and trade bans on Russia, in an effort to starve the country of revenue and prevent the war from spreading further.
