What happened

A Russian strike on two civilian buses in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk has killed at least 30 people, according to rescue officials. The attack, which also wounded 18 people, is believed to have been carried out using glide bombs. Authorities have accused Russia of targeting the buses to kill as many civilians as possible.

The incident is part of a surge in Russian attacks on Ukraine, which has resulted in a significant increase in civilian casualties. In a separate attack, 22 people, including five children, were killed when a five-storey block of flats in Pryluky was destroyed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned the attacks, stating that Russia is trying to destroy all life in the Donbas region. He has called on the international community to take concrete action to support Ukraine, including providing new defense packages.

The UK Foreign Secretary, Ed Miliband, has announced plans to impose further sanctions on Russia in response to the attacks. The situation in Ukraine continues to deteriorate, with constant air raids on the capital Kyiv and disruptions to public transport and daily life.
