Security Expert: Trump's Decisions Harm Ukraine, Echo Putin's Narratives

Security expert Marek Kohv says US President Donald Trump's recent decisions harm Ukraine and echo Russian President Vladimir Putin's narratives, potentially helping Russia emerge from isolation.

According to security expert Marek Kohv, US President Donald Trump's latest decisions are detrimental to Ukraine and mirror Russian President Vladimir Putin's narratives.

What happened

Kohv stated that Trump's actions, such as his diesel deal, have minimal impact on global oil prices and may not affect the upcoming midterm elections. However, these moves demonstrate Trump's willingness to support Putin over Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed feelings of betrayal by Trump in a recent interview, which Kohv believes was not an overreaction. Zelenskyy's primary responsibility is to protect his country, and he cannot indefinitely play a game of flattery that has not produced results.

Kohv also criticized Trump's attempt to shift blame for diesel prices onto Ukraine, rather than acknowledging the impact of his intervention in Iran. Additionally, Kohv noted that making concessions to Russia has never motivated it to change its policies or come to the negotiating table.

Regarding the restrictions on satellite communications, Kohv believes the order likely came from the White House, given the geopolitical implications. Trump's declaration that Ukraine needs a new president was also seen as an echo of Putin's narratives, with Kohv stating that Trump has no say in the matter.
