What happened
Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia described Secretary of War Pete Hegseth as a deeply unwell person who appears to take pleasure in brutality. This statement was made during an interview on MS NOW's The Briefing, where Ossoff was asked about the planned public execution of the 2009 Fort Hood shooter.
The execution, scheduled to be live-streamed in December, has raised concerns. Ossoff criticized Hegseth and the administration, stating that the Secretary is unable to competently run the US military and is instead focused on what Ossoff called an obscene medieval spectacle.
Ossoff also expressed his concerns about the administration's values and foreign policy, which he believes are endangering the United States and damaging its international image. He emphasized the importance of winning the upcoming midterm elections.
