Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are facing opposition from their new neighbors in a lakeside village in Ohio. The couple, who recently purchased a $5.35 million mansion, want to erect a six-foot fence and plant scores of trees around their property for privacy and security.
However, their plans have been met with resistance from locals, who are concerned about the potential impact on the environment and their own properties. One neighbor, Katherine Bolton, has expressed concerns about the fence's spiked railings, which she fears could impale deer, and the threat of raw sewage backing up into her home due to the planting of trees near a century-old clay sewer pipe.
At a recent planning board meeting, Bolton also criticized the couple for being absentee owners, suggesting that they may not be around to deal with any problems that arise from their plans. Another neighbor, Chuck Bauernschmidt, has objected to the clear-cutting of shrubbery and trees on the property, branding it 'ridiculous'.
The couple's team has insisted that they have tried to keep the peace and have made concessions, including reducing the height of the fence from eight feet to six feet. However, the planning board has only approved the landscaping at the front of the property, and has withheld approval for the planting of trees along the shoreline.
