Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that his officials will meet with Donald Trump's envoys, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, in Miami. The meeting aims to forge a unified peace proposal as the war with Russia reaches a 'dangerous stalemate.' This comes after a Russian strike on buses in the city of Kramatorsk killed 30 people, one of the deadliest attacks in weeks.
The talks are expected to last two days and will include representatives from the White House National Security Council and the US Treasury Department. National security advisors from the UK, France, and Germany, as well as officials from NATO and the European Union, have also been invited to join the discussions.
The meeting will focus on proposals for security guarantees for Ukraine, a post-war prosperity plan, and other aspects of the conflict. The Europeans have expressed frustration with the high energy costs and financial impacts of the war, and the US is trying to mediate with the goal of creating a unified proposal.
