Donald Trump joked about Iran attacking Los Angeles and San Diego, sparking criticism from California Democrats. Trump defended the Iran War and signed an executive order to drive down diesel prices.

What happened

At a rally in Nebraska, Donald Trump joked that the US should let Iran 'take out' Los Angeles and San Diego. He made the comment while defending the Iran War and explaining that higher gas prices are a small price to pay to keep Iran from having a nuclear weapon.

Trump's remarks were met with criticism from California Democrats, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria. Bass stated that Trump's statements were 'dangerous and could potentially compromise our safety,' while Gloria said that San Diego is 'not collateral damage' and 'not expendable.'

California Governor Gavin Newsom also responded, calling Trump 'deranged and dangerous.' Newsom stated that Trump is 'now saying our foreign enemies should “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego' after previously sending the National Guard and Marines to occupy California.

Trump also signed an executive order aimed at driving down record diesel prices, which have surged to around $6.50 a gallon due to turmoil overseas and the wars in Iran and Ukraine. The order seeks to rapidly expand the amount of diesel available to American motorists and businesses.
