What happened
President Donald Trump has reversed a decision to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan, the former US Army Major who killed 13 people in a mass shooting at Fort Hood in 2009.
Hasan's execution by firing squad is scheduled for December 3. Initially, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced that the execution would be made public and livestreamed. However, the decision was met with widespread criticism from politicians and the public, with 80% of US adults opposing the livestream in a recent poll.
Trump announced that the execution will not be livestreamed, but the families of the victims will be allowed to attend in person if they choose to do so. The President also criticized former President Barack Obama's administration for failing to prevent the attack despite prior indications of Hasan's radicalization.
