The American Conservative

President Trump says no attack on Iran is planned for Sunday, amid ongoing tensions and regional conflicts. US and Iranian officials are reportedly in talks to restart diplomacy.

President Donald Trump has stated that there will be no US strike on Iran before the end of the weekend.

What happened

Trump made the announcement to reporters at a White House press conference, citing advanced intelligence on Iran. He also mentioned a recent intelligence memo about Iranian plans targeting Americans in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, a Qatari delegation was in Iran on Sunday to attempt to restart diplomatic talks between the US and Iran. US Central Command head Admiral Brad Cooper visited the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran claimed to have downed an American drone over its port of Bandar Abbas.

Regional conflicts continue, with Saudi Arabia intercepting a missile barrage from Yemen's Houthi rebels near Mecca, and Israel conducting offensive operations in Lebanon, the West Bank, and Gaza.
