The demonstrations in France, which began as a response to staff shortages and rising prices, have grown into a wider movement and have been joined by extremist politicians and activists.
French President Macron has blamed 'agitators from far-left fringe groups, joined by numerous criminals' for the violence and has called for unity.
At least 2,400 people have been arrested and nearly 1,000 police and gendarmes have been injured in the riots, with seven seriously hurt.
