Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed willingness to freeze the current front lines in the conflict with Russia as a means to bring an end to the war.
What happened
Zelenskyy stated that freezing the front lines could be a real path to ending the conflict, and that this would be the minimum required from Russia. He also emphasized the need for security guarantees and for millions of displaced Ukrainians to be able to return home.
Russia has previously rejected ceasefire deals, citing concerns that Ukraine would use the time to rearm. Despite this, Zelenskyy remains hopeful that a ceasefire can be achieved, and has called for international support to help end the war as quickly as possible.
