A Ukrainian infantryman has been rescued from the front lines using a drone, a first in the history of warfare.
What happened
The wounded soldier secured himself to a large drone, which then lifted him into the air and transported him to safety. The rescue was carried out by Ukraine's 92nd Separate Assault Brigade.
The brigade stated that conventional evacuation methods were impossible due to enemy drone activity and landmines, prompting the use of the aerial drone. The rescue was captured on footage, which shows the soldier being greeted by an operator after being lowered to the ground.
The footage was released as Russia proposed a summit with the US and China to discuss ending the war without Ukraine's involvement. Ukraine's top diplomat has objected to the idea, warning that it would embolden Russian President Vladimir Putin.
