A United Nations fact-finding mission has found reasonable grounds to believe that the US military committed war crimes in two bombings in Iran. The mission's report states that the US launched indiscriminate attacks resulting in civilian casualties and damage to civilian objects.
The report highlights two specific US strikes, one in Minab and another in Lamerd, Iran. The strike in Minab allegedly hit a school on a military base, killing over 150 people, including approximately 120 girls and boys. The strike in Lamerd targeted a sports complex and residential area, killing 22 civilian men and women.
The US Central Command has launched an investigation into the Minab strike, but the findings have not been released yet. The commander, Adm. Brad Cooper, has committed to providing a public report on the investigation's results.
The report also notes that Iranian state security forces have killed civilians on a large scale in their crackdown on dissent this year, with tens of thousands of people arrested and detained, facing torture, solitary confinement, and denial of legal counsel.
